Responsibilities
The function of the Music Therapist position is to provide individual and group music therapy services to consumers at Valeo BHC. This position is full time providing music therapy services as well as back-up support for Expressive Therapy staff and at the Creations of Hope Art Gallery that is run by the Expressive Therapy program.
The goals of the program are to provide solution-focused expressive therapy rehabilitation services to assist consumers with severe and persistent mental illness in increasing community tenure and reaching toward recovery goals.
Requirements
This position requires a Bachelors or Master degree in Music Therapy and national board certification as a music therapist (MT-BC) or board-certification within 6 months of hire. Experience working with the adults with a severe mental illness and have background in facilitating groups preferred. A valid Kansas Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance is required, as the position requires providing transportation to clients. Must be able to perform day-to-day physical requirements of the position, including approximately 1 hours of data entry per shift, frequently moving around the building and community through each shift, ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed and utilize various art materials.
Preferences: • Experience with SPMI population• 5 years experience as a Music Therapist• Additional knowledge of or trainings in other expressive therapies• Willingness to flex time from part to full-time
Salary Range
$41,215 – $46,980 yearly for full time
