ASC Clinician and Jail Liaison

Responsibilities

The Alternative Services Court (ASC) clinician collaborates with the City of Topeka Municipal Court to identify and provide services to individuals referred for ASC.   The ASC clinician will provide timely assessment and treatment planning, monitor mental health treatment for consumers participating in ASC, and collaborate with other ASC team members and agency staff to ensure successful follow through of participants.  Approximately 50% of time is spent in direct ASC duties.  Approximately 20% of the time is spent serving as liaison between Valeo and the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.  In this role, the clinician works in collaboration with Corrections staff to identify individuals in need of mental health services and assists in pre-release planning for those consumers.  The remainder of the time (approximately 30%) is spent as a clinician in the CIS department, completing mental health assessments and crisis assessments as needed.

Job Requirements

This position requires a Master’s in Psychology (LMLP or LCP), Counseling (LPC, LCPC), or Social Work (LMSW, LSCSW).  Must have current Kansas Behavioral Science Regulatory Board license and meet eligibility of Title XIX reimbursement and other 3rd party insurances.  This position requires excellent communication, interpersonal, and assessment skills; experience in mental health assessment; thorough knowledge of community resources and knowledge of basic computer skills.  The position requires flexibility, reliability, clinical competence, and the ability to work closely with consumers, families, and professionals within and outside the organization.  Preferred experience includes working with persons with severe and persistent mental illness and/or chemical dependency, and experience working with individuals who are homeless. Must be 18 years of age or older and be able to pass pre-employment background checks and drug screen.  Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.  Must be able to perform the day to day physical requirements of the position, including sitting for long periods of time, data entry into various computer software programs, movement and travel to various community agencies, and ability to lift up to twenty-five pounds.

$25.28 – $30.82 – $36.88
