The purpose of the Cooperative Agreement to Benefit Homeless Individuals (CABHI)-Kansas is to strengthen our state’s infrastructure and treatment systems to provide integrated/coordinated treatment, recovery support and permanent supported housing to individuals, including veterans, who experience homelessness/chronic homelessness and have co-occurring serious mental illnesses (SMIs) and substance use disorders. The SOAR (SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery) case manager will assist eligible clients in the SSI/SSDI application process using the SOAR model. Tasks may include interviewing client; coordinating application efforts with case managers, Social Security Administration, Disability Determination Services, and other involved parties; providing SOAR training and education to the community, and other tasks as requested. Some availability after working hours may be necessary.
This position requires applicant to be a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) for the counselor II. Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC) preferred, at least one year supervised experience in the field of Substance Abuse, a Master’s degree in a related field and be a Qualified Mental Health Professional for the counselor III. Have a minimum of four years free from abuse of alcohol and other drugs. Employees must have reliable personal transportation, a valid Kansas Driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance. Physical requirements including efficient computer skills with 3-4 hours of daily data entry on the computer is necessary to complete the duties of this job. Willingness to complete further computer training to enhance ability to solve problems associated with the computer is required.
